Network Documentation That Saves Hours on Every Support Call
Support quality is limited by information as often as by effort. When a help desk cannot answer which port the gateway uses, every ticket becomes a truck roll. A lightweight documentation pack pays for itself the first after-hours outage.
Capture at handoff
- Edge diagram — gateway, firewall, core switch, uplink speeds; one page readable on a phone.
- Label standard — patch panel, switch ports, and AP names share a scheme (e.g., FL2-AP-EAST).
- SSID/VLAN table — who uses each network and whether guest traffic is isolated.
- Credential vault — admin passwords in a team password manager, not an installer notebook.
- Asset list — models, serials, warranty dates, links to PDFs in the Help Center.
Keep it current
Assign an owner to update the diagram when hardware moves. Date-stamp exports. When documentation drifts, remote support reverts to guesswork — and downtime costs multiply.
